Assessment

In order to facilitate learning, tutors need to evaluate your level of knowledge and practical ability and give appropriate feedback. It follows that assessment is an essential part of any course. For pathway students, all types of assessment must be successfully completed in order for a course to be credited to your pathway. You will be assessed in a variety of ways:

Theoretical knowledge

On modules 1 to 3 there is a Short Answer Question Test at the end of each course. This covers the basic theory taught during each course. It may be introduced to other courses in the future.

Practical Skills

The ease with which you achieve the objectives in each practical session is evaluated by your tutor, and recorded. This provides a good overview of how your practical skills develop through the pathway. This method of assessment has been used for some years on Osteopathy in the Cranial Field Courses.

Written Assignments

All pathway students will be required to submit written assignments after each Stage 2 course. These will provide an opportunity to extend and integrate the skills learnt on the course with your clinical practice.

Daily Learning Log

You will be asked to evaluate and record your own progress on courses. There is time set aside at the end of each day for you to discuss this with your tutor for the day. In addition, it is suggested that you keep a log of your learning throughout the pathway. This will help you learn from your experiences and review your progress periodically.
